I also want to encourage any of you looking for a second set of eyes, to consider hiring her. I was talking with a writer-friend last night about red lines and such when Tina came up in the conversation. I have always been a pretty good writer, but about two years ago, I asked her to edit a couple books for me because I needed a second pair of eyes. She did her red lining and I wanted to cry. Some of her changes I didn't understand, so I got her on the phone and asked, why? She explained and after I thought about it, it made sense, and I got it. The next project was the same way. She is brutally honest with me when a piece sucks and it was hard to take at first, but after I worked through my own issues with the red lines I had to bow down and thank her for making me write stronger peices. Okay, brutally honest may sound mean, but the reality is that many proofreaders are too afraid to get real with their clients, which can actually hurt their clients in the long-term. Tina is honest, yet sensitive. I was really nervous about letting another writer edit my work, but knew it was time for a second pair of eyes. She caught mistakes that my mind read correctly, but my eyes glossed right over.
